Today I have Chrystal from Snowdrop Dreams of Books here with me. She’s new to the world of book blogging and started her book blog about 3 months ago. Let’s get serious first. What was the first book that made an impact on you and why?

I have been reading from a young age, so I am trying to think of the first book that made any impact on me. I would have to say that The Catcher in the Rye by JD Salinger made a really big impact on me in high school - I wish I still had my essay on the book (it got an A+). I think this book actually was the first one to make me stop and think about what it was really trying to say to someone. Holden Caulfield's narrative throughout the entire novel had me wondering if in reality the world actually does act like "phonies" and ignore those around them that do not fall in with the norm. His impending nervous breakdown is time and again ignored by other characters as they continue on in their everyday life all the while Holden is going through depression and chaotic/erratic behaviours. It made me wonder if people truly don't see what is happening around them or do they choose to ignore it all.

How did I miss out on reading The Catcher in the Rye growing up?? I haven’t a clue but I do have that book on my TBR list. Speaking of lists, what are your Top 5 favorite reads of 2010 so far?

1. The Iron King & The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa - great new series that debuted this year. The last of the trilogy is due out February 2011 - The Iron Queen.
2. Garden Spells - Sarah Addison Allen
3. Wintergirls - Laurie Halse Anderson
4. Shadow of the Vampire - Meagan Hatfield
5. The Everafter - Amy Huntley

One question I like asking fellow book lovers is which author(s) they have on their auto-buy list. Which authors are on yours?

1. Laurell K. Hamilton (her Anita Blake Series - which I am behind on because I only buy them in paperback *sigh*)
2. Kathy Reichs (love her characters and well the TV spin off BONES is pretty good too even though it's not exactly like the books)
   

I am just getting into YA so haven't really found a favourite author there just yet, though I am sure that there are quite a few in my TBR pile that will get added to my list shortly.

We’ll have to get you acquainted with YA! Do you snack while reading?

Most of the time I don't, but once in a while I cannot resist eating a good piece of chocolate while reading a great book.

Good answer! Chocolate goes with everything. I hear it’s the new pink ;) So I see on your blog that you’re a fan of Chick-Lit. What Chick-Lit book or author do you recommend?

I would recommend Garden Spells by Sarah Addision Allen - the book was actually really cute. I just picked up her second book The Sugar Queen and am looking forward to reading it.

Also, I would suggest MaryJanice Davidson if someone was into vampires, but not hardcore blood and guts vampires. Queen Betsy is quite fun to read about and just an easy read. They are my go to books when I need to wind down. Cute, fun chick-lit.
