When it comes to demons, always read the fine print.Jesse James Dawson was an ordinary guy (well, an ordinary guy with a black belt in karate) until one day he learned his brother had made a bargain with a demon, Jesse discovered there was only one way to save his brother: put up his own soul as collateral, and fight the demon to the death.
Jesse lived to free his brother-and became part of a loose organization of Champions who put their own souls on the line to help those who get in over their heads with demons. But now experienced Champions are losing battles at a much higher rate than usual. Someone has changed the game. And if Jesse can't figure out the new rules, his next battle may be his last...

HARRY DRESDEN — WIZARDLost Items Found. Paranormal Investigations. Consulting. Advice. Reasonable Rates. No Love Potions, Endless Purses, or Other Entertainment.
Harry Dresden is the best at what he does. Well, technically, he's the only at what he does. So when the Chicago P.D. has a case that transcends mortal creativity or capability, they come to him for answers. For the "everyday" world is actually full of strange and magical things—and most don't play well with humans. That's where Harry comes in. Takes a wizard to catch a—well, whatever.
There's just one problem. Business, to put it mildly, stinks. So when the police bring him in to consult on a grisly double murder committed with black magic, Harry's seeing dollar signs. But where there's black magic, there's a black mage behind it. And now that mage knows Harry's name. And that's when things start to get interesting.
Magic. It can get a guy killed.
I realized that most of the UF novels out there, at least the ones I’ve read, have a female protagonist. Nothing wrong with that but now I’m curious and want to read a UF novel with a male protagonist. So I put a call out to Twitter and these two novels came highly recommended.
What’s on your wishlist?

Oh, you have to read Storm Front and Fool Moon and then Grave Peril...it's addictive! I have such a crush on Harry Dresden and the series really matures as you carry on reading!
ReplyDeleteFor male leads I would also recommend Mike Carey's Felix Castor series and Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of of London - great reads both! :)
Thanks for the rec! I'll check it out.
DeleteI have the first few Dresden novels, but still have never gotten around to reading them. Might have to dig them out and give them a try! Have a lovely weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteGreat picks! The Dresden series comes highly recommended. I have the first book but I haven't gotten to it yet. The Jesse James Dawson series I haven't heard of.
ReplyDeleteStorm front is on my list as well
