Month in Review: July 2012

Month in Review

I took a twittercation in July and it definitely worked. Although I didn’t do as well in the latter part of the month, I kicked ass in the first 2 weeks. And MAN did I get my read on! Almost 1/2 of the number of books I’ve read for the year, I read in July. In a single month.

So I’m implementing another twittercation for the month of August. (Which shouldn’t be too difficult since the Olympics are dominating Twitter and I’m not really into the Olympics *ducks*) I’ll reply to @ mentions and DMs, probably tweet a few Kindle deals and freebies here and there, and I’ll have some scheduled tweets going out but that’s about it. My main goal is to stay away from my timeline.

Speaking of twitter, one good thing about me breaking my twittercation is that I saw this post about image copyright infringement being tweeted. Actually, I don’t know if I’d call it a ‘good’ thing but it’s definitely better to be ‘in the know’ than to be blissfully ignorant when it comes to something of this caliber. If you haven’t already read the post, you should. Like now. A blogger got sued for using an image on her blog that she didn’t have permission to use. She removed the image in question as soon as she was notified but the copyright holder wanted compensation. I’m sorry this happened to this blogger but I’m glad she shared her story to educate other bloggers on the matter.

I have spent the past week going through all of my blog posts and removing images I did not have permission to use. I finally finished yesterday and it’s a HUGE sigh a relief. Not only did I have images in posts I personally wrote up but there were images in some of the guest posts on my blog as well. I also removed author head shots because I don’t know if the author owns the copyright to their image. I just don’t want to leave it to chance or have to worry about the photographer coming after me. I also got rid of reading challenge and meme buttons that I wasn’t sure whether or not the button creator had permission to use the image in their button.

  1. Don't feel bad, I'm not that much into the Olympics either, unless it's our Women's US Soccer team. THem's my girls :)

  2. I just read my first Moira Rogers books, the Western Steampunk series, BLOODHOUNDS and read all three in a day. LOL, how were the two you read?

And congrats on getting so many books read in July!

    1. The two I read were okay. Lots of sex, not so much chemistry or emotion. They're short quick reads. I love the meaning behind the Kamikaze title ;)

    2. I've only read the BLOODHOUNDS but was thinking about the others...maybe not. :)

    3. I'm going to stick with their full length novels. I read Crux and it was a good read. Very good read.
