Living in Manhattan and working at Virago, one of the most successful women’s magazines in the nation is a dream come true for Lindsay Pinke. After five years of being overworked and underpaid in the research department, she’s finally noticed by Colette Duarte, the provocative executive editor of the magazine. She offers Lindsay the coveted role as her personal assistant, but first she must prove she’s worthy of the position. Lindsay must interview Victoria Nox, the elusive and extremely private CEO of Nox Media Holdings. If Lindsay succeeds, Colette promises her great things for her publishing career. If Lindsay fails, her chance as a respected writer will be cut short.

A chance meeting with Victoria at a high class function puts into motion a series of events that leaves Lindsay blindsided by her strong physical reaction to the magnetic but foreboding woman. When Lindsay unwittingly falls into Victoria’s world of dark temptations and complex entanglements, she leans the shocking truth Victoria hides about Colette that rocks Lindsay to her very core.

Now that Lindsay has become a balm on Victoria's soul, is she strong enough to help Victoria confront her shameful past, and stop one woman's sick games once and for all?

In a Nutshell: This is a lesbian Fifty Shades of Grey inspired contemporary erotic romance. Lindsay Pinke is pitted against a rather severe tycoon, Victoria, as a ploy from her employer, Colette.

What I Liked: Well first off, the ‘In a Nutshell’ portion of this review should tell you a lot of about how awesome this book is. I will caveat this review by saying I did not read Fifty Shades of Grey but I felt like that was not a requirement to enjoy this book. The characters are vibrant and alive...each has a strong personality and I developed strong feelings for each of them as I read (in Colette's case disgust). I love this twist on a now old storyline.

What I Didn't Like: If there is anything I did not like about the book is the storyline between Colette and Victoria. While it was handled well in the book, and by no means a negative aspect, these sorts of conflict between characters makes me personally uncomfortable...and I think that's intended by the author.

Overall Impression: Great lesbian erotica that is both steamy and tender.

  1. Love that it's a twist on Fifty Shades of Grey! I haven't read that one, but with all the publicity feel that I have. Nice review! Really like your In A Nutshell recap.

  2. I've really been striking out trying to find a decent lesbian story, so I'm going to grab this one. I feel like I'm missing a good chunk of LGBT lit if I'm not finding any good L lol! I liked fifty shades of grey so this is promising :)
