REVIEW POLICY
Things you should know before submitting a review request:
Most of the books we read and review come from solicited requests we initiate (usually via NetGalley and Edelweiss or to publishers and authors directly), our personal shelves, and/or the library. We will consider review requests ONLY for books by authors whom have been reviewed on The Book Vixen before. (Our Review Index.)
We are not professional reviewers and we do not post ‘critical analysis’ type reviews. What we do post are our honest opinions of the books we read – what we liked, what we didn’t like, and why. For us, this is not a job. We do not get paid (nor would we accept payment) for our reviews. We do this on our own free time because we love reading and talking about books.
Genres we accept:

- Romantic Suspense
We accept ARCs, galleys, and finished copies, though ebooks are preferred. We do not accept audio books for review at this time. If you are submitting an ebook for review, you will be asked to send the ebook directly to the reviewer who will be reading and reviewing the book. Self-published books will be considered if, and only if, the book has been professionally edited.
We will NEVER share, forward, copy, distribute, trade, or in any way infringe on an author’s copyright regarding ebooks we receive. We will NEVER sell ARCs. From time to time, The Book Vixen holds giveaways which may include ARCs and bound books that have been received for review. If you prefer that we do not giveaway the bound book you provided us for review, please let us know in the review request form.
We will consider all requests (so as long the request abides by our review policy), however, we may not accept all requests. Acceptance does not guarantee a review. While we try to only accept books for review that we think we will enjoy reading, we cannot and will not guarantee a positive review. Our reviews are our honest assessment of the book, which is in no way affected by how or where we got the book. We do not accept/receive monetary compensation for reviews.
In addition to our reviews being posted on The Book Vixen, they are also posted on: Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and Goodreads. Brianna also posts her reviews on LibraryThing.
Book reviews will include the following information:
- book cover
- book title and author
- name of series and number in series, if applicable
- synopsis (usually taken from Goodreads)
- publication date and publisher
- purchase link to Amazon
- link to book on Goodreads
The Book Vixen uses a 5 frog Rating System:
5 Frogs - It was AMAZING! Definitely re-read material.
4 Frogs - We really liked it. Put it on your TBR list.
3 Frogs - We liked it. Didn't love it but it was still enjoyable.
2 Frogs – Meh. It was okay. Get it from the library.
1 Frog - We didn't like it. It wasn't for us.
DNF - Did Not Finish and we'll tell you why.
The Book Vixen also uses a Sensuality Rating System:
INNOCENT - kissing is as far as it goes
MILD - Sex takes place behind closed doors
SENSUAL - Open bedroom door but no oral sex
STEAMY - Always just 2 partners, may include oral sex
EROTIC - Multiple partners, BDSM, 'back door' sex
If you have a specific date that you would like the review to be posted, please let us know in your request and we will do our best to accommodate you. Books we personally request for review will have precedence over all other books. On average, it can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks for the review to post. Due to time constraints, we do not send out email notifications when a review has been posted.

Only books that are accepted for review will be contacted within one week of submitting a review request.

THE BOOK VIXEN'S PROMO POLICY
The Book Vixen is happy to help promote your book with promotional posts. We welcome: book spotlights (near or on release day), cover reveals, exclusive excerpts, giveaways, guest posts, and we participate in virtual blog tours/book tours. Due to time constraints, we do only a limited number of interviews. Please see our review policy to see the list of genres we accept for review to see if The Book Vixen would be a good fit to promote your book. Self-publishers are welcome (and encouraged!), as long as the book has been professionally edited.
Dates for promotional posts will not be confirmed until all information and materials (including guest post, if applicable) have been received. For virtual book tours, dates will be confirmed in advanced, however I must receive all information for the post ONE WEEK PRIOR to post date.
I ask that guest posts be an original work that has not been published anywhere else before. Guest posts should be between 300-600 words in length, give or take. I welcome exclusive book excerpts as long as the excerpt is 600 words in length or less. Please include a brief author bio (150 words or less) along with social media links (author website, blog, Goodreads, Twitter, and/or Facebook) you would like included in the promotional post. I will provide Amazon purchase links using my affiliate link.
If you would like to uses images in your promotional post (aside from the book cover), you must own the rights to the image(s). No exceptions.
Giveaways accompanying promotional posts are strongly recommended. It’s a great way to help spread the word about your book. The Book Vixen runs giveaways for 2 weeks. Entries are collected via Rafflecopter forms and winners are selected randomly. Once the winner(s) have claimed their prize, the winner’s information will be emailed to you for prize distribution. The option for extra entries will be given for (a) following the author on twitter and (b) liking their (or the book’s) Facebook page, provided you give me the links. Please note that ONLY the information for the giveaway WINNER(S) will be sent to the giveaway sponsor. This is to ensure the privacy of The Book Vixen’s readers.
If a book is given a rating less than 3 frogs, The Book Vixen reserves the right to alter or decline any promotional posts related to said book.
