Believed dead by his Pack mates, Micah Chase, a wolf shifter and Dreamwalker, was held captive for months, subject to tortures that left him physically scarred and emotionally unsettled.

Now under the care of the Alpha Pack’s doctors, he’s been prescribed an experimental healing drug, but he still can’t shake the nightmares. Even more damning is that Micah’s problems pose a danger to his team, and if he doesn’t get himself under control, they’ll all suffer a terrible fate.

There is a key to his salvation. Jacee is a beautiful coyote shifter, and though her kind is hated, she’s falling in love with a man whose very future is in her hands. Together they’ll face his personal demons as well as a deadly enemy—and for both of them desire has never come with such risk.

Why I Read This Book: Because Alpha Pack. Also I'm waiting not so patiently for Nix and Noah's book.

In A Nutshell: Micah's story is perfect for what he's been through. It's a little dark to match the rest of the series, and it deals with new issues and expands the world even more. I'm glad I read it. Also, a recurring theme: if you think he/she is dead, think again. Unless it's Micah's mom. I'm pretty sure she's dead. I think.

What I Liked: I've been waiting for Micah's book… well, as long as I've known there was a Micah. He's just so damaged and broken. I was looking forward to his healing. And I got exactly what I was looking for in spades. Not only is he broken, he has issues to deal with that are remotely related to his captivity, but has to deal with on a separate level. Some of what happened, I didn't see coming. The author did a good job of bending the world rules, or rather molding them to Micah's specifications, without breaking them.

What I Also Liked: Once again, we're thrust into the world of the Alpha Pack, a place where alpha males run amok and emotions run high. I absolutely loved the windows into the past couples' relationships. There is a tension with Jax and Kira and Micah and Jacee that added a new level of intrigue to this, as Jacee is a past lover of Jax's. The explosions that happen because of that are wonderful (and lifesaving, surprisingly enough).

While I liked Micah and Jacee, I have to say most of my attention was held by the tense air between Nix and Noah. The will they or won't they? I'm waiting with bated breath for that story. Also, the m/m fan in me is desperately hoping that Sariel might find his HEA with the new prince. But alas, I know I might have to look toward the fan fiction side of things for that one.

What I Didn’t Like: The subplot, the mystery as to who is hunting Micah, is good, but it seems to be brought up later than I would've liked. And the conflict head happens so quickly I was disappointed in the lack of action. It all seemed so easy.

My other qualm comes with the supposed tension between coyotes and wolves. In Jacee's first appearance in this book, she brings it up, mentally, but then nothing comes of it when she and Micah get together. It's as if any animosity was perceived but it's overlooked. That part of the world simply fell off the grid as if it didn't matter.

In My Opinion: This book is good and needed to be told, if only to get to Nix and Noah's book. I liked Micah's story, but I wasn't head over heels for it.
