As their careers catch fire, Grace and Jack -- everyone’s favorite foul-mouthed, funny, and feisty couple -- find themselves on opposite coasts. Grace has landed in New York City, where she loves being onstage again, particularly because she’s playing a fabulous character in a musical written by her old college flame, Michael. Their rekindled friendship makes exploring the city that much more fun.

Wait, it’s just friendship, right?

Meanwhile, in L.A., Jack can scarcely keep up with the swirling throngs of women who track him everywhere he goes, the endless press appearances, and the ridiculous rules his manager, Holly, keeps concocting for him -- all part of the buildup to the release of Time, his steamy new film.

Thank goodness for phone sex.

But even when their schedules allow them to connect, Grace and Jack must keep their relationship off the radar and away from paparazzi cameras. Sure, the sex is sensational, but can this duo survive swirling rumors, the demands of their chosen professions, Grace’s raging internal battles, and a whopping nine-year age difference?

Tick-tock, the clock is ticking. Isn’t it?

Alice Clayton brings the second installment of a tale told with her magical mix of humor and heat, so cuddle up under the sheets and flip on the Golden Girls. Grace and Jack are at it again.

Why I Read this Book: I read The Unidentified Redhead (my review) and loved it so I knew I was going to read the next book in the series, The Redhead Revealed. The first book left off with Grace, a stage actress, landing a gig in New York while Jack, the next big up and coming celebrity in Hollywood, had to stay in Los Angeles to promote his upcoming release. In book one, Grace and Jack sexually craved one another. What I wanted to know was now that they’re thousands of miles away from each other, would their relationship survive the distance?

What I Liked: The characters are well rounded - main characters as well as secondary characters. Grace and Jack are a perfect fit for each other just as Grace and Holly, Grace’s BFF and manager, are. Grace and Jack’s chemistry and compatibility is off the charts. But don’t think things are all roses and sunshine for Grace and Jack; the author throws a few obstacles their way.

The author makes their relationship believable. Sure, Jack is a soon-to-be major celebrity and Grace is just a woman trying to live her dream to become an actress but in that respect, it’s believable. Think Notting Hill, the movie where Julia Roberts plays the celebrity and Hugh Grant is the average guy she falls in love with.

I love the hilarious banter that goes back and forth between Grace and Jack and I love that they get each other.

“If I wanted to make you stay in all night with me, all I’d have to do is wave some candy in front of you and then kiss on your sweet boobies. You’d be putty in my hands.” He grinned sexily.

“There’s candy?” I asked, looking around wildly.

Jack laughed so hard he fell off the bed. I never did find that candy.

I like how the author doesn’t drag the story along unnecessarily. You know those books where the author feels the need to describe every single thing/place/scene/conversation? Alice Clayton keeps the storyline moving along quite swiftly.

Another funny scene that takes place happens during a dinner, where Grace and Michael are reminiscing how they first meet back in college:

I totally fell flat on my face, and some guy had to help me get all my shit together. I was so embarrassed because my birth control pills fell out of my purse, and he handed them back to me with a hug smirk. And you saw that? How mortifying!”

“I was the guy who handed you your pills, you dork!”

Michael’s presence is The Unidentified Redhead was mild but in The Redhead Revealed, as stage boss, he gets a bit more page time. I love what the author did with Michael’s character.

As I sit here I write my review, I am chuckling all over again. I can go on and on listing my favorites scenes but I’m pretty sure I would be violating copyright laws if I did.

What I Didn’t Like: There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about this book, or this series for that matter. I only wish book 3 of The Redhead Series was out already.

Overall Impression: Alice Clayton delivers steamy romance, witty characters and a barrel full of laughs in The Redhead Revealed. I got exactly what I expected from reading this book: a silly grin slapped across my face from the many laugh-out-loud moments and rosy cheeks from reading those provocative and stimulating scenes. Some of those scenes were so titillating, they made my heart palpitate. The Unidentified Redhead and The Redhead Revealed were both truly enjoyable to read. I cannot wait for the next installment in this series.

With only having read 2 of her books it may be too early to tell so I’m saving Alice Clayton a spot on my list of auto-buy authors. I can’t wait to see what else she comes up with.

  3. This book sounds so interesting! I loved the bit you quoted about her forgetting his role in their first meeting. The language in the quotes just made them seem so normal!

  4. Catherine - that's what I love! The language is "normal". The author isn't afraid of stepping on anyones toes, so to speak.

  5. Vixen, do you feel it's necessary to read the first book to really get into this one? I don't have a problem with that, I'd just like to know first.

  6. Catherine - yes, because you really need to see how these two crazy birds met and how the flirtatious banter all started. Not reading it would be like eating ice-cream but skipping the hot fudge. Yeah, I totally used chocolate in that analogy.

Or like Grace might put it sex without the orgasm. Grace's words, not mine (I swear!).
