Why I Read this Book: People were buzzing about this debut novel so I had to read it for myself.
What I Liked: This was the funniest book I’ve read in a while. The back and forth bickering and the tension between Tom and Lexie was off the charts. These two couldn’t be any more different than one another! And the author writes such three-dimensional characters. I feel like I know these people.
The hot sauce scene. Probably one of – if not the – best scenes I’ve ever read. This scene was so rich with detail, it played out like a movie scene in my mind while I was reading it. I could taste the salsa, feel it burning a hole through my tongue. It was like reading in 4D.
I got the sense that the author knows what she’s talking about when it comes to bicycling and the TransAmerica Trail and her storytelling validated that.
What I Didn’t Like: Reading this book made my cheeks and stomach hurt from all the laughing fits I endured. Be warned.
Memorable Moment:
“You can’t ride your bicycle across the country alone. It’s insane. You’ll end up being slaughtered by a serial killer.”“I’m thirty-five, single, tattooed, and antisocial. I’m the serial killer.”
“What are you doing?”He didn’t answer her, just kept running the tip of his tongue slowly along the rubber tube and staring at her with those intense ark eye. And God help her, it turned her on.
“You’re doing … a great job. It’s just … he vibrates.”
Overall Impression: I enjoyed reading Ride With Me so much, I can’t wait to read it again (says the non-rereader!!). I don’t think I’ve ever laughed as much as I did reading this book. I am definitely looking forward to reading more by this author and that time cannot come soon enough. If you love a good rom-com, you have to read this book!

Woo Hoo! This is probably the best Contemporary I've read this year. And I'm in love with Ms. Knox's voice. I can't wait to see what's next ;-)

DeleteI thought that her next book, About Last Night, was even better than Ride With Me. The hero, Nev, is utterly delicious. She's got a story in a Christmas anthology coming out and I've already pre-ordered it.
